Yesterday, I celebrated our Country’s independence from the tyranny of foreign oppression 232 years ago. I took a look around and wondered about whether our independence worked-out like we expected it to or not?
I used gasoline derived from oil from a foreign country to drive up in my Japanese car to my father-in-law’s house. I talked on my phone that the technology was originally developed in Ontario. The other phones were developed by a company that originally began in Korea. I wore Vietnamese clothing, along with other nationalities.
On the Fourth, I drank Columbian coffee and Asian tea. I, also, had some Mexican beer. I did eat American food (hot dogs and hamburgers–I checked. Made in and not just the style). However, it was cooked on a grill “Made in China.”
I think you have the picture of what I’m trying to say. I am in favor of a global economy. However, it seems like we don’t make anything for the global economy. Now, I know that’s not a true statement. I, also, recognize that I am buying and using the non-American products. But, it’s like trying to eat organic or unprocessed and still participate normally in everyday life? Not easy.
If we make a push for buying “American Only,” do we damage our economy? Is this considered “isolationism” as well? I don’t have the answer.
I guess I’ll go back to watching two American sisters playing tennis in England on a Japanese television!
Created by an American brain and typed into existence on a computer–Made in China!
